Open house extravaganza!
Griffen and Avarys school had their open house night this week. I must say it wasn't your average show and tell! From painting in the Artists Courtyard, feeding the koi in the courtyard pond, playing music in the music room, introducing us to the class Salamander in the Science lab, eating cookies in the cafeteria and so many more things I can't even remember. All I know is it was light when we got there and pitch black when we left. It really is a pretty great school.

"We need a menu around here. I never know what to have!"
Oh sure! I'll get right on that. Should we call this restaurant 'Avarys', a place where high demands are met?!

Game 1 for Griffen
Griffen played his first game of the season this last weekend. All I can say is these boys have skills. Seriously. You would never know they have listened to a SINGLE word the coach has told them, but is shows on the field. Practices are hard to watch because of the attention span they all have, or don't. From elbows to the eye, to falling in a dirt hole, to running into eachother, getting their toes stepped on, or getting kicked because they think it is absolutely hilarious to see how hard they can kick eachothers shin guards, they have this game figured out.
And, they are a great group of boys.
Quick pep talk.
Griffen was team captain. He said, "I don't know what that was all about?!" when he returned to the side.
"Oh mom, did you want to take my picture?"
Sure buddy, sure. ;)
Hudson. The team clown. "He is the funniest boy EVVA!"
Game 1 for Avary
Avary played in her first soccer game of the season this last weekend. We were out of town for the very first game, so she felt like she had something to prove. She did great, dispite being put in the defender postition, which she HATES!
There are so many little blondes running around on her team, its hard to know who to take pictures of.
It was a chilly morning!
This is Avarys coach. She and her husband coach both this team and their oldest daughters team. He is a firefighter and has been deployed out in Eastern Washington fighting the many fires that are there burning. They have 4 kids. It hasn't slowed her down a bit. One on her back, one in the stroller and the other two out kicking the ball.
Ellie vs. Avary
This is one of her school buddies.
Go STARS!

It's beginning to feel like fall!
I love, love, love fall. This is going to be our first one here in Washington. I am SO looking forward to it. We've been noticing earlier nights and chillier mornings. Avary and I put a little bit of fall on our front porch this weekend.
How do you like them apples?!
We have a favorite produce stand by Craig's office that we have grown to love. This last trip we came across these HUGE apples! They are even our favorite kind, Honey Crisp. :). Look at the difference from stand to store. As Griifen would say, "that's just CrAzY!"

Just a girl and her mom
So, with Griffen at a birthday party and Jackson and Craig at his soccer game, Avary and I had a little girl time. We had brunch in the harbor, walked around the harbor sharing an ice cream cone and finished off our afternoon cutting fresh flowers from a little plot of land in the woods. I'm still smiling.

Celebrating in style!
A childhood friend of Craig's, Dan, was in Seattle for the weekend with his wife celebrating his 40th! We were lucky enough to have awesome friends who offered to take the kids so we could join them. It was all around good food, good friends, good times! Happy 40th Danny!

Afternoon on the island
We hopped a ferry over to Vashon Island for the day to visit our friends and check out the Vashon Dog Trials. Friends were great, dog trials, not so much. Within 5 minutes of being there the 'can we leave?'s began. Luckily there was a long line at the sno-cone stand so that bought us adults sometime to watch a little. We decided that next time we will leave the whiners at home and bring the wine, cheese and crackers.
